Children’s Treatment

NHS treatment is carried out to a very high standard with appointments  between 9am and 3pm. treatment is carried out by an orthodontic specialist and our orthodontic therapist.

Milder cases may not be eligible for NHS funding, under these circumstances treatment can still be carried out on a private basis.

Private child options: children are eligible for private orthodontic treatment whether they qualify for NHS treatment or not.

Appointments can be arranged privately for our next available appointment slot.

We have a range of self funded payment plans with flexible options to suit individual circumstances, appointment times can range from 9am – 4.45pm

Conventional metal fixed appliances

These are the most common form of appliance used in children and are often also termed ‘train tracks’. They are most commonly made from stainless steel. Care has to be taken eating hard foods as the attachment can easily be broken leading to a disruption in treatment. Appliances can easily be removed at the end of treatment leaving the teeth intact.

Orthodontic Retainers

After orthodontic treatment a retainer prevents your teeth from moving. One set is covered along with treatment. Book in for a spare set of retainers from £140.
If you were not a patient here you can also book an appointment for retainers, please call 02887784827 for more information

Why do I need to wear retainers?

There are two reasons for wearing retainers:

  • Teeth tend to want to move back towards their original positions. This is called relapse.
  • As we get older our teeth may start to move unpredictably, often showing some crossing over and increased in crowding.

By wearing retainers long-term we can reduce these age changes in the position of the teeth. The longer you wear retainers, the longer you can keep your teeth straight.

Sports Mouthguards

Reasons to wear a sports mouthguard:
  • Helps reduce chance of concussion
  • Protects jaw joints against injury
  • Protects lips and cheeks/ soft tissues from injury
  • Cushions teeth against impact
  • Helps prevent injuries to the jaws and neck

It is important to wear a mouthguard over braces when playing contact sport to prevent injury.

Self-fitting orthodontic mouthguards are available to purchase at reception.

Custom sports mouthguards are available for purchase from £60 when your treatment is complete. We will create a custom made mouthguard by taking an impression of your teeth and then having the laboratory build your mouthguard to perfectly fit your mouth. Your mouthguard will be in the colour of your choice with your name imprinted on it.
